Most Commonly used for: Kortick wood pole steps are designed to be driven into wood poles to provide secure foot and hand holds for climbing. For this reason, they are a very important piece of pole line hardware.
Features that make it fit this use better: Kortick manufactures several types of pole steps. The K4252 Pole step for wood poles has a “handidrive” head, wide and strong in the cross section and reinforced at the bottom to prevent bending the head when driving. Its surfaces are rounded and smooth, eliminating accident hazards caused by sharp corners or edges. A raised ring indicates correct driving depth. It is also hooked and can be bought knurled to prevent slippage and increase safety.

Pole Step
Made with: Kortick wood pole steps conform to latest revision . EEI Spec. TD-15. Kortick pole steps are fabricated from “carbon” steel bars, latest revision ASTM Spec. A107, for strength and rigidity. Normalized to relieve undue stresses which may have developed in the forging operation.
Standard measures, dimensions and standards: Kortick’s 5/8” x 10” K4252 is an industry standard for drive-in type pole steps though there are other sizes available. Though it may vary, pole steps are generally spaced every 18” on alternating sides of the pole– we suggest you check with you local utility before installation. Also, pole steps are not generally placed below 8 feet on a pole. Knowing the height of your pole and proper spacing can help ensure that you get the correct number of wood pole steps.
