Kortick Manufacturing

Screws: Pilot point, Lag, fetter drive, Gimlet point

KORTICK LAG SCREWS are used to attach Pole line Hardware and Specialties to pole, crossarms, and wood structures.

CONE POINTED FETTER DRIVE THREADS on Lags speed up installation because they can be driven into the wood like a nail, and develop all of the holding power of a regular Gimlet lag thread.

The 3/8-inch diameter and larger FETTER DRIVE SCREWS have a SHOULDER UNDER THE HEAD upset to the same diameter as the threaded section, thus insuring a snug fit in the hole of the hardware installation.

PILOT POINT screws allow the screw to be “tacked” into place before driving the screw into place.  This makes for both increased time savings and easier installation.

Fabrication from carbon steel bars or cold heading wire of suitable grade and quality.

Hot dip galvanized per latest revision ASTM Specifications A153, threads cleaned of excess zinc by the Centrifugal Method.

Conform to latest revision EEI Specification TD-3. Heads are American Standard Regular and conform to the minimum body strengths noted below.

Features that make it fit this use better:  An economical way to prolong the replacement of rotting and weakened poles.

Made with: Reinforcing Bands and Curved Washers are fabricated from “strip” steel. Half Oval Washers are malleable. The Stubber is fabricated from 2” schedule 80 pipe 5-1/2” long and is called a stubbing pipe also known as K4312.  All fittings are hot dip galvanized to increase resistance to corrosion.

Standards, Standard Measures and dimensions:  Stubbing fixture “A” consists of 4 bands to wrap around the pole and stub and four 5-inch pipes to tighten the assembly. Mounted two at the top and two at the bottom of the stub.

Crossarm bolts or double arming bolts, fetter drive screws and nails are not furnished with the stubbing fixtures.  When required, they should be specified and ordered separately.

When ordering stubbing fixtures illustrated and described on the following pages specify the exact number of each length band and the specific fittings you require. DO NOT ORDER IN SETS.

Features that make it fit this use better: Kortick Three Piece Pole Bands keep an even tension for the entire circumference.  Its design allows for attachments on all sides of a pole.

Made with:  Either ¾” round bar or 1” round bar depending on diameter and desired strength and meets ASTM specs.  ¾” or 1” bolts and nuts included to meet ASTM A325 spec.  Hot dip galvanized for resistance to corrosion.

Standards, Standard measures, and dimensions:  Manufactured with steel of appropriate grades to meet ASTM specs.  To ensure appropriate pole band is purchased, know the diameter of pole at the POINT OF ATTACHMENT when ordering.  The table provided below lists the pole diameters and the size pole band required.

Oval eye bolts

Most commonly used for: In pole line hardware, regular pattern oval eye bolts are most commonly used for attaching insulators or clevises to crossarms or poles. Oval eye bolts are usually NOT used for guying although they can be if a guy thimble is also used.

Features that make it fit this use better: Eye bolts offer a great attachment point for hardware. Kortick’s Eye bolts are dropped forged in one piece. The resulting one piece eye is much stronger than incomplete eyes formed by bending and can handle much greater loads.

Made with: Kortick Eye Bolts are fabricated with eyes drop forged in one piece. Made with steel of suitable grade and quality. They are galvanized for corrosion resistance and are threaded to a finger tight fit. They come equipped with a regular cold punched square nut.

Standard measures, dimensions and standards: Length is measured from under the eye to the end of the first thread. Diameter greatly impacts the strenth of the part and should be known when ordering. Washers used on these bolts are extra and sould be specified and ordered seperately. Guy thimbles should be used with oval eyes to prevent the strand kinking under tension.
